Immemorial, Songs of the Great Night

La mort est l’horizon de toute existence, et pourtant nous ne savons rien d’elle et ne pouvons rien en dire. Nous ne pouvons que tenter d’en saisir quelques reflets à travers les miroirs que nous lui tendons : mythes, rites, danses, lieux consacrés…, qui deviennent alors comme autant d’espaces où peut se tisser une relation avec l’indicible.
A partir d’une matière essentiellement documentaire et s’inspirant de codes narratifs des mythes, ce film est une invitation à cheminer au seuil de cet indicible, entre monde des vivants et monde des morts, entre visible et invisible, entre création et destruction, et à en dépasser les contradictions.
Death is on the horizon of every life, and yet, we know nothing of it, and we can’t say anything about it. We can only attempt to grasp some reflections through the mirror that we hold out to it: myths, rituals, dances… which then become places where can be established ties with the inexpressible.
Essentially based on documentary materials, and inspired by the narrative structure of myths, this film is an invitation to walk towards the edge of the inexpressible, between the world of the living and the world of the dead, between visible and invisible, between creation and destruction, and to go beyond the contradictions.
